Bridie Rivers is a Central Coast based artist whose Messy Figure paintings celebrate the quiet poetry of everyday life — her loose, gestural figures bathed in rich, warm colour inhabit soft domestic spaces, capturing moments of rest, reflection, and emotional honesty. Her paintings have always commemorated the world around her, which has predominately consisted of ocean walks, ocean swims and ocean surfs. So, it’s no surprise that her paintings harness a sense of sunshine through bikini women that spark a sense of reality for the artist.

She loves to explore techniques and play around with her art, never afraid of getting too messy or having to start again. She loves allowing a story to come alive on the canvas, creating ambiguity in her paintings, letting the viewer create their own connections to the artwork. She hopes that her abstract figures and bold colours will fill homes with as much joy as the journey of painting it filled her with.

She uses a mix of acrylic, plaster and oil pastel - always dabbling in a new medium to keep her guessing and playing in art, allowing her art to offer the world a sense of inner-child play.
